From Maggie Mae’s new Mom:
“I would like to thank Destiny for Dogs for all of their amazing work, helping and providing support for these amazing animals.
The adoption process for Maggie Mae was thorough and detailed which made me feel confident, that they care about the animals and commitment to providing wonderful furever homes.  I love Maggie Mae and couldn’t be happier to welcome this new family member. I should also say that the foster home and mom took amazing care of Maggie and provided a wonderful place for her to reset.  I would recommend adopting from and supporting Destiny for Dogs as JoAnn is an amazing conduit between you and your furever family member.”

Charlie…Never Give up on Love

🐾💕GOOD NEWS PUPDATE FROM CHARLE’S MOM🐾💕
Charlie was moved from place to place. People only saw his outside which was gorgeous. They didn’t realize what was going on inside Charlie’s head. His way to control fear was to bark, growl, bite to protect himself from being hurt again.

Charlie’s owner had him for 6 years. Then they decided to move into a condo where dogs were not allowed.  To make a very long and sad story, short and sweet. One day Charlie’s luck changed.  He met his forever mom, for real and forever. Unconditional Love 💗

Please read the comments below from Charlie’s mom.
“So my Charlie man only wants to sit on my lap or next to me while I sleep. He has come a long way.  He shakes paws. And gives so many kisses. I have said  many times don’t give up on them.   Charlie makes me laugh every day.” A picture is worth a thousand words. See what love can do🐾💕

She is going to have a wonderful life, is already so loved and is doing very well.  My husband named her Felony LOL because of his job. Felony is on him like a magnet and follows him everywhere including the bathroom LOL.”

Special “Thank You” to Susan Speno Fracasso for saving Rose and transporting her to Destiny. Thank you to Lynn Mcgrew for transporting Rose to Jackie Sickels who fostered Rose until permanent foster mom, Julie Fox returned from her “Birthday” Weekend🎉  Thank you Julie and family for taking such extraordinary care of Rose and getting her where she needed to be at Trudy Downes. RIP Sweet Cali

🐾💔🌈In Loving Memory of Cali. A beautiful & touching message from her mommy & daddy🌈💔🐾

ONE LAST KISS TO KEEP FOREVER. Today we sent our perfect, precious Calli to heaven to be with her beloved sister Lily.  We tried every means possible before releasing this gorgeous being from her pain. If I had had a daughter I would wish her to be just as lovely. She adored both of us, never complained & lived to bring us joy, laughter and affection. My baby was just extraordinary–incredibly beautiful inside and out.  She was calm, giving, kind gentle & friendly. We loved to dress her in her Destiny for Dogs t-shirt to promote rescue.  She always drew a crowd and I would proudly explain no she’s  not a show pup, but the face of rescue. Selfishly, my most favorite memory will always be her endless, sweet kisses which made her fabbie dad a wee bit jealous.  When times were RUFF  she would always  bring me calm and happiness. I so often joked to my peeps that she was my Valium  Zanax & Wine all wrapped in an exquisite bundle of fur. Goodbye my sweet girl– til we meet again.

Minnie

🐾💕PUPDATE & BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS FROM MINNIE’S MOM🐾💕
“Minnie is still doing great and everyone loves her in my condo association. I would not know what to do without her, we all call her “Miss Minnie Mouse!” She is so precious! Just does not like to ride in her car seat, wants to sit between the door and me … I guess her other mother allowed that. Minnie shakes so badly, I’ve tried to medicate her to go out in the car but it didn’t work . So I changed her veterinarian to Shores Animal Hospital because they’re only a few miles from where I live. When they were trying to get urine from Minnie they had the ultrasound on her and saw that she had gallbladder problems.  So it was good that I had switched veterinarians. Minnie’s gallbladder is being kept under control with medication. It’s not really a problem however it would’ve been if we hadn’t found it when we did. So everything is good and I can’t thank you all enough for what you do. Hugs, Pat & Miss Minnie 💕Of course!”

Finny on His Way to “Happily Ever After”

🐾💕GOOD NEWS PUPDATE, FINNY HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND IN HIS AMAZING NEW LOVING FOREVER HOME🐾💕
Finny’s owner had to leave the country and was heartbroken that he was not able to take his beloved 11 year old Pomeranian with him. He tried to find a new home for Finny on his own to no avail due to behavioral issues💔
Thank you to Sharon Harper and Suely Aurebach for contacting Destiny about Finny🌹

Special “Thank You” to foster parents Mark, Susan Brokaw-Garfinkel & son, Gregory for taking such extraordinary care and going that extra mile to get Finny to his new loving forever home. No words to express Destiny’s appreciation.

From Finny’s new mom: “Finny is a beautiful boy and I’m very glad his prior “sleepover” was not a perfect match.  He needed time and understanding as he was bewildered and frightened himself. Finny is still getting used to everything but has come a long way.  A good example, he is now sleeping on my bed.  He also knows putting his leash on means going outside and he goes straight to door.  Finny walks 3 miles daily without fail, eats his dog food & treats, and sits on couch with both of us.  He is a lovely dog perfect for our family.

We are happy he is in our care because he needs a lot of nurturing.  I think Finny may have been passed around more than one time.  He has a personality that can be misunderstood as aggressive. But I see as quickly excitable, he will calm down very quickly with simple, firm voice commands and gently touching him physically.  Then it’s over, he is such a good boy.

Finny jumped in my lap for the first time because of thunder. Since that night he’s been jumping up on me when I sit down in a big enough seat for two.  He’s turning into a lap dog who loves being petted and massaged.  I was fascinated by his evolving personality in just 7 days.  He had it all in him but he was frightened by all the chaos. Oh yes, he’s surprisingly turning into a love bug. Perfect chance to brag about my little boy, Finny. He is such a good baby and I feel so lucky to have gotten him.

Please tell new owners of rescues to give these dogs a chance to warm up and feel safe again. Maybe I’m preaching to the choir but Finny is a perfect example of a dog who just needed, space, time, patience and love to adjust. I’m sure Finny still loves his owner. But I’m also sure Finny is happy and settling in with two retirees who give him around the clock attention as their “only child”
I see now that you really have a tough job placing dogs in appropriate homes!  Adult dogs are a whole different story than puppies.  God bless you! Finny’s home for good.  He’s not coming back.”
♥️We are all so grateful for the commitment, dedication, determination, patience, understanding and unconditional love that this terrific couple has provided Finny. They changed his life by taking a chance. This is what love can do♥️
🐾💕We are wishing Finny, his mom, dad, lots of love, the best of everything and only “Happy Days Ahead .”🐾💕

Words From Emmett

🐾💕GOOD NEWS PUPDATE FROM THE ONE AND ONLY “EMMETT!”🐾💕
“Hello there!   I’m Emmett,,,,,the little white fluffy guy happily cuddled between my people rescues!  My Mom is Anita and Pop is Rocco.  I was blessed to have found them with the help of Joann Goodrich at Destiny for Dogs.  Joann started her search for people in need of rescue while Rona ( my fabulous foster mom ) helped  me in rehab after surgical interventions on my  knees! Rona nursed me back to excellent health to the extent that I am now able to care for 2 people rescues! Since our introduction and getting to know each other I’ve decided that I’d keep them in my life forever.  It’s comforting to know that I’ve been able to build a family for them both.  The love and joy is evident in their adorable little faces when they smile and snuggle with me! They’ve been quick learners and I appreciate the evident training they came with in daily routine health and hygiene matters!  Like myself, they come with a full wellness check and all the necessary shots to stay that way for a long time.

Thanks JoAnn for finding Anita and Rocco for me.  They will take a little effort and training but there is no doubt at all that there is a lot of love going down in this house and I absolutely am in heaven that I found them!  PS I will be texting my favorite photos for you to see how happy they are since I found them!!!
Love Emmett.”

🐾💕We are all wishing Emmett, his Mom & Pop only beautiful and  loving “Happy Days Ahead!🐾💕
🌹“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.”🌹

In Loving Memory of “Cookie”

🌹🐾♥️IN LOVING MEMORY OF COOKIE♥️🐾🌹
From Cookie’s mom:“Very sad to tell you our beloved Cookie ended her final camping trip on Monday night. Cookie was diagnosed with oral mast cell tumor in February. It was a high grade tumor with a miotic index of 146! (Should be below 5) with a poor prognosis (2-3 months). Surgical excision and/or radiation would have removed her right upper jaw and nose, still with a poor prognosis. Both the dental surgeon and oncology doctors weren’t in favor of this course. We tried chemo, but she did not respond to treatment. We chose to provide palliative care and enjoy every minute we had with her. She gave us an additional 3 bonus months (she must have known a camping trip was on the calendar).  On Monday, within 24 hours, she went from being her usual playful self to the cancer in her mouth just exploding and invaded the nasal cavity, etc. She was such a fun character!  A great companion who loved fishing, camping, anything that involved going for a ride, and never lost her puppy exuberance despite being 13 yrs old.
Thank you for finding her for us!!  She was such a good companion, George’s ‘therapy dog’ and a joy to everyone. We will miss her dearly.”
🌈We are all sending our loving, thoughts and prayers to Cathy & George in the loss of their beloved angel girl, Cookie. She will always remain in your heart, loving thoughts and beautiful memories until you meet again🌈
Thank you for providing Cookie such an extraordinary, loving forever home.

In Loving Memory of “Amy Barone”

Amy King Barone and her beloved dog, “Joy”

April 13, 1966 to June 6, 2022

♥️🙏🌹In Loving Memory of Amy Barone🌹🙏♥️
Our hearts go out to Amy’s Family and Friends in the loss of such a beautiful lady inside and out. Always so loving, caring, nurturing, and truly an animal lover.

Amy adopted Joy from Destiny for Dogs.  I personally had the pleasure of performing the adoption and the chance to meet and get to know Amy. She was truly an angel on earth. Amy and Joy were a match made in Heaven. Joy brought so much joy to Amy. I took this beautiful photo of Amy and Joy which reflects the love, happiness and special bond that they instantly shared.  I was blessed to know Amy for only a short time however felt like I knew her forever.

Amy was truly gone to soon💔

It is an honor that Destiny for Dogs has been chosen to honor Amy’s Life and “In Loving Memory” of such an extraordinary person.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who knew and loved her. Plus all the lives Amy touched to make our world a better place.

With Our Deepest Sympathy,
JoAnn Goodrich and the Destiny for Dogs Family🌹

In Loving Memory of “Yanna”

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
♥️🐾🌹In Loving Memory of Yanna🌹🐾♥️
Our hearts go out to Yanna’s loving parents who did everything humanly possible to save her life. Plus provided an extraordinary life, endless love and the best medical care. In return, Yanna provided so much love, joy & happiness to her mom, dad and fur-siblings. Yanna will truly be missed by all the lives she touched.   Until you meet again, Yanna will remain in your heart, thoughts and beautiful memories♥️🐾🌹

From Yanna’s mom:
“It is with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to our Yanna girl this morning. We never could have seen this coming as she was doing so well. Yanna started having some heavy breathing for a couple minutes last evening then she was fine. Then it happened again this morning. She ate her breakfast but afterwards laid down in the kitchen. She never does that. We took her to the Vet’s office. The Vet immediately took x-rays, he suspected internal bleeding based on what he saw on the x-rays. They put Yanna on oxygen as the heavier breathing was becoming more consistent. I held the mask on her while the x-rays were sent out to a radiologist to read. Within 30 minutes Yanna’s heartrate started to slow down. The Vet said “she was starting to pass”. The total shock and reality set in. How did this happen so fast? The report came back that Yanna had lymphoma in her lungs and a tumor was bleeding. “There’s nothing you can do”… Dan and I are in total shock never thinking after how well Yanna had been doing that she would pass away this morning.

Yanna passed with Dan and I right there with her, telling her how much we love her. The pain is unbearable as is the shock of losing her so fast. The Vet is a God send and we are thankful he was there this morning and took care of Yanna, she could not have been in better hands.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful girl. Yanna was pure joy, the most loving, sweetest little girl ever, with an incredible love for life! Every day with Yanna was truly a gift. She was just that special in every way and to everyone that met her, she put a smile on their face.
Yanna’s Backstory: Yanna was found in a dumpster at 7 weeks old. A passerby heard crying. She pulled her out of the dumpster and immediately took her to a local shelter for care.  Shortly after Yanna was there she got distemper. Thankfully, she pulled through but was left with neurological symptoms. The good news is, I was a volunteer on the weekends at this shelter, and when a wonderful staff member showed Yanna to me, I knew I had to get her out. Her living conditions were not good. My husband and I had previously rescued three distemper survivors from this shelter. We kept two, Sophie and Darren and a nice lady adopted Ginger.
I was able to get Yanna out of the shelter and to our Vet’s office.  (Sadly, we had recently lost our dog Darren. We were heartbroken, and so was Sophie). Our Vet said “Yanna is a gift from above”, because Yanna reminded us so much of our sweet Darren. Our Vet put Yanna on medications to help with her neurological condition and within weeks she was thriving. Yanna was a true survivor with an incredible love for life. Yanna and Sophie quickly became best friends. Yanna helped heal Sophie’s heart and our hearts. She had her forever loving home with canine siblings and us. Their lives were filled with so much love, happiness, play time and incredible care. Every day was filled with laughter, just watching them play was entertaining. We were incredibly blessed and grateful to have had Yanna for 15 plus years. She had an amazing personality and was so loving, smart and funny. Her beautiful eyes were so full of expression. Yanna and I were never more than a few feet apart from one another in our home. We had an incredible bond, a once in a lifetime. Yanna was and will always be my heart dog as you so lovingly said JoAnn. We love and miss her more than I can say and we always will.
These pictures of Yanna are some of our favorites! We love her sweet face and beautiful smile! The loss of Yanna is indescribable, our home is so quiet and feels so empty without her. My husband and I are so blessed to have shared our lives with Yanna for so many years. She is loved and missed more than words can say…”
