Remembering Rosie

Rainbow Bridge 04image1

Our Dear Rosie, a sweet 15 year old blind and deaf Shih Tzu girl saved from the Animal Care and Control’s euthanasia room.  We all did everything to provide Rosie quality of life, however three months later, there was nothing more to do.  Rest in peace angel girl, run free at Rainbow Bridge where you are now, happy, healthy and whole.

Until we meet again, always in our hearts. You mattered to us and we loved you.

Good Bye Bailey

Rainbow Bridge 06

image1Bailey, a loving senior Maltipoo was truly loved by his family. However, his mom became sick and could no longer care for him so Bailey was surrendered to Destiny for Dogs.

Bailey’s Foster Mom, Holly took great care of him and decided to become a “Foster Failure.”  Sadly, Bailey stopped eating for a few days and couldn’t walk. He went peacefully at home with his mom holding him, thanks to Dr. Abbott. Rest in peace angel boy, run free at Rainbow Bridge where you are now, happy, healthy and whole.

Until we meet again, always in our hearts.

Rosie

Happily Ever After1My name is Rosie.  I am an 8 year old Lhasa Apso.  My last mom could no longer take care of me because she is 90 years old and had to go to a rehabilitation center and is not well.  My human sister is allergic to me.  Joann from Destiny for Dogs was contacted and she called a lady she knew was searching for a new love.  The lady was searching for a dog under 10 pounds so she could have a travel partner.  I am 14 pounds but when she heard my story and then met me, she knew size didn’t matter.  It was a match made in Heaven and love at first sight.  My new mom is the widow of a NYC Police Officer, and my human brothers are NYC Police Officers.  My human brother-in-law was a NYS trooper.  It was meant to be.

Sheila’s Family Loves Her More Than Ever!

Sheila1Sheila grad aHere is an update form Sheila’s Family:

These are pictures of our little girl who has exceeded our expectations. Sheila wants to please in any and every way that she can. Obedience training began with a few problems, but she quickly adjusted, impressed the instructor, and has graduated and been welcomed into the intermediate phase of training. She has become a very important part of our family, feisty, though at times, I do not think we would have it any other way. More to follow as we continue our love affair! The first picture is her favorite position in her favorite comfort zone.”

In Loving Memory of Ruth J. Jones 1923-2015

Ruth Marie Jetzne JonesHeavenRuth was the mother of Michelle Jones who was very much an animal lover and a friend of Destiny for Dogs.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

Many remember her for her years of service and helping start Bud’s Take-Out, or as the Avon Lady for 40 plus years training and helping others succeed. She loved returning to her home of 62 years, The Ruth Jones Cottage, while it was the Little House. Ruthie is survived by her son, Thomas Mason Jones, and daughters, Janice Heine (Joe), Emilie Little, Michele Jones, and daughter-in-law, Susan Jones. Grandchildren: Michael Jones, Krista Tower (Joel), Cassidy Jones, Rachel Mohlman Shidaker, Keith Jones, Jr., Laura Jones and two great-grandchildren; Riley Shidaker and Emma Tower.
